Our Physical Therapy Services – Knee

Knee pain is one of the most common reasons why a person will see a Physical Therapist. It truly encompasses every walk of life and in every stage of life we live. Young kids can develop Osgood Schlatter disease. Teenagers can develop patella femoral disease. Athletes can have a traumatic injury to any number of ligaments in their knees—the ACL being the most common.

Female athletes are injuring their ACLs at an almost epidemic rate. As we enter into adulthood, weekend warriors tend to tear their meniscus or develop tendinitis, fractures can happen at any time, and after years of abuse our knees finally succumb to arthritis that could potentially require a total knee replacement to alleviate the pain.

Throughout every stage the staff at BeneFIT Physical Therapy has you covered. Our youngest patients have been 4 – 5 year olds and our oldest knee patients have been in their 90s. During more than 10 years of experience in this considerable age range we have worked with athletes, weekend warriors, and senior citizens performing Orthopedic and Sport Physical Therapy. During your initial evaluation you will be evaluated to determine what precipitating factors may have contributed to your knee injury – strength imbalances, muscle restrictions, poor body mechanics, and overuse – throughout your leg from your pelvis to your ankle. Based on these factors and your goals, a detailed individualized treatment program will be established for you.

As you progress through your treatment you will be continually evaluated and adjustments will be made to advance you through your program, not only to get you back to where you were, but to provide the tools necessary to improve your overall functional mobility and correct the imbalances that precipitated your injury. This will help prevent further injury, future falls, or allow you to regain the confidence to get back on the field. We want you to surpass your goals to become a better, fitter you!

Some of the more common knee injuries we treat are:
