Working out in 2019..

When it comes to fitness and building a routine there has always been the saying that “in two weeks, you’ll feel it. In four weeks, you’ll see it. In eight weeks, you’ll hear it.”

“Working out” can be something that veritably everyone wants to do, yet is one of the major struggles of life, especially in the winter.  Also, one of the most common questions the BeneFIT PT staff hears from people (patients, family, friends, and others) is how did we start working out!? Since it is the start of 2019, we are hearing these questions again.

Along with New Year’s Resolutions, we do not want to make any excuses for being not able to work out, including that you do not want to go to a crowded gym in January.

Did you know that just over 70% of Americans (ages 20 and older) are overweight or obese (70.2%). This is a startling number. To visualize, if we lined up 10 random people off the street, 7 of them would be overweight or obese. These are truly startling numbers. This is why it is important to set your health and fitness goals this new year to combat these statistics. New Year’s Eve is probably the single most goal creation day in the world. The New Year provides the once in a year line in the sand division to say for that one moment in time the old me is out and the new me has a bright future!

According to an article published by the University of Scranton in 2012, almost 45% of Americans make a New Year’s Resolution for losing weight! To achieve these goals and ensure success, make sure to taking the following steps: Record everything, Set Achievable and S.M.A.R.T. goals, make a timeframe, and then “have it!” as our Owner, Brian Ireland, would say. Surrounding your goals with these best practices will make them achievable and attainable in the long run.
