Hip Physical Therapy

Hip pain can be a nagging constant throughout your day, regardless if you are sitting, standing, or walking; or it can be a sharp stabbing pain when you are running, jumping, or dancing. Typically it is easy to identify the location of the pain every time you experience your symptoms. But hip pain can also be hard to figure out. You see, it is common for a hip problem to send pain into the low back, the buttocks, into the groin, down the thigh, or even into the knee without the individual even feeling any pain in their hip. This inconsistency in the symptom location coupled with the fact that it is common for a low back issue to radiate pain into a person’s buttocks, hip, groin, or further down their leg makes correctly identifying a hip issue challenging.

That’s where being an experienced Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapist can help, and with 10+ years of working in both Orthopedic and Sports Physical therapy the PTs at BeneFIT Physical Therapy have both the advanced knowledge and years of experience to be able to correctly figure out what exactly is going on in your hip. That starts with the detailed initial evaluation where the Physical Therapist will listen to you when you describe your pain complaints, their location, and their aggravating factors.  After that your hip will be measured for things like strength, range of motion, joint mobility, and stability.  Based on both your past medical history and these measurements a series of special tests will be performed that will help to differentiate exactly what is going on in your hip to determine the appropriate treatment plan for you.

So whether you are a teenage dancer whose popping hip prevents her from performing her jumps in dance or a senior staring down a total hip replacement after a fall, the staff at BeneFIT Physical Therapy has the experience and knowledge to correctly identify what is going on and, more importantly, how to get you back.
